Both The Yorkshire Museum and The Hospitium are in the picturesque Museum Gardens 10 minutes walk from York Railway Station and close to the city centre for hotels and entertainment.
The Hospitium
The 14th century Hospitium is a fully accessible, two-storey listed building that can accommodate formal conferences, workshops or away days.
2024 saw an install of amazing AV facilities, which means that we are fully equipped to offer any level of interactive learning. Hearing loops are built into the sound systems on both floors, along with handheld microphones, lapel and lectern microphone options. The high quality projector screen with ClickShare is available to use for all conferencing events. Livestream facilities are available on request too.
Capacities are up to 70 delegates in cabaret style round tables and up to 170 in theatre style.
Based in the peaceful Museum Gardens, this venue offers a perfect option for learning and team building.
The Art Gallery
Available during the day on Mondays and Tuesdays, or in the evening from Wednesday through to Sunday. This unique and versatile space is perfect for a staff away day, team activity or workshop. The on-site restaurant at Sketch is available to cater for anything from afternoon tea through to evening drinks receptions.
The balcony space at the back of the gallery provides a stunning view of the gardens and city walls, a lovely option for private hire in the summer months.
The Tempest Anderson Hall – Theatre Space
Available for both daytime and evening hire, this unique old cinema space seats up to 295. The building is accessible directly from the Museum Gardens, or via the entrance of the adjoining Yorkshire Museum.
Complete with tiered seating, lighting options and a projector, this is a wonderful venue for cinema nights, theatre performances or lectures and talks.
The Castle Museum
Available for evening dining, a unique experience for all! Host your dinner or drinks reception in our famous Victorian Street space.
