The 14th century Hospitium is licensed to hold Wedding and Civil Partnership ceremonies and provides a peaceful, private and atmospheric venue.
It is a two-storey listed building set within the beautiful Museum Gardens, overlooked by the striking ruins of St Mary’s Abbey - the perfect setting for your wedding photographs.
The spacious upper floor is ideal for wedding receptions
The Hospitium is available for hire for receptions throughout the day and evening, so we are able to cater for the whole of your special day if you wish.
The ground floor is ideal for your wedding ceremony or for welcoming guests with a drinks reception, while the first floor provides a stunning dining room for your wedding breakfast.

We can host seated dinners for up to 135 guests and drinks/buffet receptions for up to 200 guests. Whatever your requirements we will do our utmost to help you plan your perfect day.
The Hospitium's designated caterer, as of April 2008, is Bradshaws of York Ltd.
