Can I have live music or a DJ at my evening event?
Live music is permitted at all of our venues for evening functions. A DJ/disco can be organised for events at the Hospitium only. Please speak to our Sales Team to discuss your requirements in greater detail.
Can I hire the Museum Gardens?
The Museum Gardens can be used for functions, but each application for use has to be considered individually, as the Gardens themselves are a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Who organises the catering at your venues?
We have highly professional designated in-house caterers at York Castle Museum (Milburns) and the Hospitium (Bradshaws of York Ltd). At all other venues, we ask clients to choose from a list of recommended caterers. Please contact our Sales Team for further advice and information regarding catering for functions.
How many delegates does the Tempest Anderson Hall seat?
The Tempest Anderson Hall seats 298 tiered theatre style, with uninterrupted views to the main stage for all delegates.
Is there exhibition space available if I host a conference at the Tempest Anderson Hall?
The Hospitium, subject to availability, can be hired in conjunction with conferences at the Tempest Anderson Hall, and a variety of delegate packages are available upon request.
Can deliveries be sent on ahead of conferences, such as registration packs?
Yes, with the prior agreement of the Sales Team and subject to venue availability.
Is is possible to get married at any of York Museum Trust's venues?
Yes. The Hospitium is our only licensed venue, and both floors are licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships. All of our venues are available for evening wedding receptions.
Browse through our Weddings pages or click here to visit York Register Office's website.
How many people can be seated in the Hospitium for a dinner or wedding reception?
At present the maximum capacity for seated banquets in the Hospitium is 120 guests, and the capacity for the whole building utilising both floors is 200 guests. These numbers will alter slightly following the refurbishment works at the end of 2007.
Are candles permitted in any of your venues?
Due to the historic nature of our venues, candles and smoking are prohibited throughout York Museums Trust venues. We are happy to advise on alternative lighting schemes and facilities for smokers are available just outside some of the buildings when functions are taking place.
